Heading Sydney to Darwin via Melbourne.

Do I have to go out and back through security in Melbourne to use the lounge?

How much time do I need from the lounge to get to the gate?

Not anymore - security is 'before' the lounge, so you will be in the airside area the whole time.

As you aren't in need of going through security, at most 5-10mins (depending on walking speed) to get to the furthest gates. They should tell you when to leave while in the lounge.
