Being vegetarian, its been a struggle at times to get good food. Saying that, I have seen a huge improvement in availability around the world. When I first came to Australia 22 odd years ago and was staying on campus, the only vegetarian food served in the dining hall was mashed potato and boiled veges as sides. I survived on Pateks (which tastes terrible and lots of pizza). In my European travels, Russia was the worst - only thing I could get was boiled cabbages. Germany wasn't too bad, but not great.

The best places that I found were China (Shanghai had this mock meat place that was brilliant), Italy and Spain (not counting India where its easier to get vegetarian food than meat). Last year, I had the best vegetarian burger in a long long time and I got that at the Roadkill Cafe on Route 66 and the previous year, a customer took me to a vegetarian cafe in Orange County (which wasnt that good to be honest). So, yes, vegetarian food is becoming easier to get.

INDIA
"Monks in this country spurred this revolutionary change by going on a hunger strike to pressure the state of Gujarat to outlaw animal slaughter in their city. Their efforts proved to be successful, and shortly after, the government imposed a ban on
animal slaughter
and outlawed the sale of meat and eggs".

If I'd been living there, I'd have been pressing to government to let the monks die as they wished.
Who's going to feed the poor slaughterhouse workers and butchers who lose their jobs - the Monks?
Regards,
Renato

Good for them.

Hopefully being a vegetarian remains an individual choice and not forced on anyone who does not wish to partcipate.
