Hi guys,

Last years i have done more of my flying non oneworld and recently decided for a number of reasons i much prefer the oneworld airlines. (Lots more op-ups if nothing else, been lucky with that)

I have had QP lifetime membership for a number of years. (Cheaper when i purchased it and even this year i am only 30 so get some good use out of it)

So this year i will make gold (Lots of trips as all my travel is discount at the back of the bus). I am 220 SC away from gold, 70 SC on my trips next week which leaves me 150 SC away, do you think if i had that in confirmed bookings they would upgrade me to gold if i ask ?

Reason i ask is i have used my free passes already (had to be nice to the significant other) and i will be doing some flights on CX so would not usually not get lounge access (although i may since its from QF connecting flights).

So really anybody think i would have any luck, Not costing QF much since i already have QP membership and i will have confirmed bookings for the 150SC that will take me to gold anyway, its only a question of now or a month away.

Unlikly Qantas will 'comp' you SG. Reports of this happening are scarce.

It seems the "Easiest" way to get QF SG is to earn those 700 sc's (including flying four earning flights on QF) in you QFF "Year".

Cheers, I may try anyway, after all i have earned 550 SC and will have over 200 SC in confirmed bookings, if all that fails i will just try the lounge for access anyway, flash my old boarding pass not my next sector. Last time i was in HK they hardly looked at it and i woudl be wondering in with the crowd heading to London.

Too much economy flying to get to 700 !!! Been an interesting year :)

About the only way to get QF to comp status is as part of a corporate travel deal where they sometimes will include a certain number of status comps. But if you are not part of the negotiation process, there is no way to ensure you are the one that gets comped.

Oh well just ask nicely at the lounge i guess, 2 of the 3 flights i will be on will be QF, its just the HKG-PVG CX codeshare dragonair that is not.
Regardless the first part of the trip should put be over the 700, just did a calculation, i will be gold by the time i get to HKG just wont have receieved the card, but CX should have the info right, it will be atleast 1 week between making gold and next flying the CX flights ?

You could print a copy of your imfo from the QF web site and carry it with you to help 'convince' the CX/Dragonair people.
