Good evening AFF,
A couple of scotches has decided that it is finally time for me to actually say hi, get rid of the yellow bar requesting that I pleaaaaaaaase make a first post and graduate from just liking messages I find myself nodding my head to throughout the forum.

Over the last year I have had the fortune of a fantastic new job which has (in combination with my personal travel) seen me transition from knocking on the door of QFF Gold, to now comfortably attaining VFF Platinum (with reasonable flexibility in fare/carrier selection) and start dipping my toes tentatively into the waters of hotel loyalty programs.

Based on number of flights, I probably look at my status credits very roughly coming from around 40% trans-con domestic Y flights, 20% Aus-Asia J, 20% Aus-Canada Y, and the remaining ~20% coming from misc domestic Y. Which I feel has so far given me a nice sample of various different services ... In the next year I have my fingers crossed to have a try of some Aus-Europe J.

Finally, I would like to thank the members of AFF .... There is such a phenomenal wealth of information here, and some truly generous members who make the wheels turn.

Cheers,
Dinsy

Welcome aboard Dinsy. Keep on reading and contributing and who knows you might attain double platinum?

As you've discovered AFF has a host of great contributors with lots of information.

Yes, welcome Dinsy and congrats for making that first AFF post! As someone who only switched from the occasional glance at AFF over the years, to a Gold member in Dec last year (that ExpertFlyer discount is a good deal), I understand the bit of Dutch courage. Still, nothing ever worthwhile began without taking that first step/post.

I hope you find plenty of useful information relevant to you, and I'm sure the regular contributors of helpful hints and tips appreciate your thanks. And don't be too surprised if you find a few good tips of your own in your travels I'm sure many here would only be too glad for you to share them.

With regards to desiring some Aus-Europe J, be aware you can get some very decent deals in J (and even F) if you are prepared to be a bit creative. Fares often differ wildly from port of origin, so good bargains can be had if you are willing to add a flight to certain Asian destinations first (whether Classic Award / ASA or just a cheap Y fare to do a short hop o/s to get you to that jump-off point).

Good wishes for your future travels, and look forward to reading some of your TRs in future.

Mmmmm, scotch...

I mean welcome aboard Dinsy!

I'm sure you'll have plenty to contribute.

Thanks all for the kind welcome.
I am looking forward to being able to contribute.
