Well I'm not sure if this thread will have any legs but we'll see. Recently I tried to start compiling a list of purchaseable flights between 2 destinations where neither destination is a home of the airline.

The idea being that these flights tend to be good little Status Credit earners. Sometimes they are not obvious flight options.

I have started with a list of OW carriers but I'd like to include others like MAS and EK If anyone knows a few obscure favourites maybe they could respond and I'll try place them all into a consolidated list.

For Example:

Japan Airlines
Vancouver - Mexico City
New York - Sao Paulo
Singapore - Kuala Lumpur

Royal Jordanian
Bangkok - Hong Kong

Cathay Pacific
Dubai-Mumbai
Dubai - Bahrain
Bangkok - Mumbai
Bangkok - Karachi
Bangkok - Colombo
Bangkok - Singapore
Singapore-Colombo
Vancouver - New York (JFK)
Taipei - Fukuoka
Taipei - Nagoya
Taipei - Tokyo
Taipei - Osaka
Taipei - Seoul

British Airways
Johannesburg - Cape Town
Johannesburg - Durban
Johannesburg - Port Elizabeth
Johannesburg - Windhoek
Johannesburg - Mauritius
Johannesburg - Victoria Falls
Johannesburg - Livingstone
Johannesburg - Harare
Cape Town - Durban

Muscat - Abu Dhabi
Bahrain - Doha

Sydney - Singapore
Sydney - Bangkok

Nassau - Grand Cayman
Nassau - Providenciales
Antigua - Grenada
Antigua - Tobago
Barbados - Port of Spain

QANTAS
London - Singapore
London - Hong Kong
London - Bangkok
Frankfurt - Singapore
Los Angeles - Auckland

You don't get QF SC's with MAS & EK. SC 's are specific to the QF freq flyer progamme on QF and some QF partner flights. Every ffp has its own unique earn & burn.

On the star alliance side UA operate a few inc. SIN-HKG and SIN-TYO.

I'm sure there's more.

This is a useful thread. Just thought I'd contribute and let you know Barbados - Port of Spain (BGI-POS) doesn't seem to be operated by BA anymore, at least according to their route map.

I can't remember from when, but I'm fairly sure JAL are discontinuing their SIN-KUL v.v from some time this year.

For star alliance, can apply the same principle, particularly when it comes to Air NZ "status points" which are not unlike QF status credits.

For SQ there are heaps, NRT-LAX, HKG-SFO, FRA-JFK, ICN-SFO, DME-IAH, DXB-IST, DXB-CAI, DXB-RUH, AUH-KWI, AUH-JED, and soon MUC-MAN. UA also offer services like NRT-ICN, NRT-PEK, NRT-BKK, NRT-TPE,

EK flies from AKL to BNE don’t they, or is it SYD? Either way it’s cheap.

Some of the flights you’ve listed could be potentially very expensive. How about narrowing down the list to acceptable SC/$ levels.

This is an old thread which I'd inadvertently resurrected. Not sure if the OP would consider spending the time to amend?

British Airways also fly (via it's SunAir subsidiary)

Billund - Brussels
Billund - Düsseldorf
Billund - Helsinki
Billund - London City
Billund - Manchester
Billund - Paris
Billund - Stockholm
Aalborg - Oslo
Aarhus - Gothenburg
Aarhus - Oslo
Aarhus - Stockholm

American Airlines

SYD - TOK - LAX

SYD - SHA - DFW

Both these were available as o/w fares for $1000-1200 which seemed a decent price for economy. Had planned to use it and then points to get back from the USA.

I'm assuming that TOK = Tokyo = Narita = NRT. I don't think there are any direct flights out of Tok in Alaska to Sydney or LA.

But yes, for that price range, they are good value. In the same ballpark as an LONE4.

Check the booking class for the flights. These fares have been available before and the Qantas flights SYD-NRT were in a booking class that does not earn miles on AAdvantage and the NRT-LAX AA flights are in a booking class that does not earn Qantas points or SCs (such as Q, O or E). So you might onlyt be getting QF FF points and SCs for part of the journey.

I'll update this thread in the next few days - just for OW. Maybe someone else can have a shot at Star Alliance options........

Ok, here is the updated OW flights as at May 24, 2010.
I'm not sure if there is a way to just amend the original post - maybe a suggestion from Admin? Please feel free to reply with extra or defunct routes; especially AA routes. I've included Dragon Air, not sure why, just felt that they have interesting destinations ex-HKG that may not be obvious.
