Hi All,

fiddling with flights returning from Tokyo to Melbourne. I have Aeroplan, Velocity, and Qantas points. Will be travelling with my wife.

Thinking of these flights in J:

NRT-TPE via EVA, 30k Aeroplan points +~$80aud per person
TPE-MEL via China Airlines (CI), 75k Qantas points + ~$125aud per person.

Will be on separate tickets, but approx 7.5 hours between flights.
What attracted me to this combination is the low taxes. Having just booked JAL J MEL-NRT, the lower taxes are certainly welcomed.
Another thing to considered is I purchased those Aeroplan points during the 125% bonus promo.

Thoughts? Cheers

If I am happy to redeem I just redeem. Normally know where I want to fly and if the date and cabin are OK I pounce. heck on a trip next August booked a September cruise from Southampton. at the time virtually all premium awards out of Australi were gone. The only choice within a few days of our ideal date and with 2 premium awards was via QF but JQ J BNE-BKK. pondered for 5-10seconds then booked it.

The next 4 awards though are on QR, BKK-DOH -MAN. Then ZRH-DOH-BKK. Two sectors with Q suites and one in F. those seats appeared on the Velocity site but not on QFF. Taxes and points though were much lower using our AA miles.
