Hi all

Singapore Miles: 67,000
Qantas: 170,000
Citi: 340,000

I’ve looked flights to redeem Singapore and Qantas miles and couldn’t find good deals (Singapore airlines is the worst, barely any flights)
With citi points not sure which miles to convert? Velocity? But then I’ll 3 different miles

Looking for a family trip of 4 to overseas:
Bali around Nov 2023
Japan/Korea in 2024
Or other countries with good deal

Australia's highest-earning Velocity Frequent Flyer credit card: Offer expires: 30 Apr 2025

If there's availability on Virgin to Bali, you can convert Citi points and Singapore points to Velocity points at a rate of 2:1 and 1.55:1 respectively.

Japan is best done on Qantas where you can use Qantas points for classic reward flights on either Qantas themselves or JAL for direct flights from Melbourne to Tokyo.

Note that flight awards don't become available until between 297 days (Qantas premium cabins if you're bronze) to 330 days (many US airlines) to 360-ish days (most airlines).

JAL reward flights come out 360 days in advance on Qantas site, be ready at 11am and you should be able to snag a flight easily. I believe it’s around 90k points one way though. I snagged two flights for December this way.

Try getting return flights via Singapore, usually plenty out of Osaka. If you don’t have the points then there’s cheap revenue fares for around $1800 one way in Singapore J to most Australian cities out of Osaka. You can also schedule a stopover in Singapore at no extra cost.

Welcome to AFF @joykev .

There are many different parameters which need to be known when trying to answer the best (or possible) use of points for someone and what's "a good deal". Also, you need to be flexible - only flying out from Melbourne will limit the choices; if you were prepared to position yourself in, say, Adelaide of Sydney you'd have more opportunities, although being 'open' wrt destination helps :)

I would suggest you have a look at Award Flight Assist - Frequent Flyer Solutions service (a sister site to AFF) - its made exactly for your sort of question. Give them the details and then get a quote - then you can decide if its worth going ahead or not.
