Great J deal, slightly odd route!

Hi everyone,

I'm sure this is unlikely to be of help to anyone, but just in case....


Just booked a one-way in I (business saver) on CX - DXB - SHA (PVG) via HKG for $805 (possibly more depends on AMEX conversion/commission). I believe similar fares are available for other destinations ex-UAE; I found it mentioned on FT as "$1700 ai DXB-TYO rt". Same fares from AUH also, but less flights than DXB. FT also mention the dubious old configuration aircraft, however you can see the seat map and request seat BEFORE you pay so you can check configuration and get the right plane. For what its worth it looks like both my legs are in new-config CX flatbed.

Oh, and its 180SCs one way with QF - not that this is important to anyone on AFF

That's pretty expensive as far as CX goes for SC chasers, especially if you factor in the starting point, better value elsewhere in their network if you don't mind guns and need to go to DXB.

Ah well, for me it's an actual route not a status run - Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge Rally to Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix - but thought I would share anyway since it seemed good value, especially for a one-way fare...

Happy to avoid guns where possible - a good rule in life I think! :mrgreen:

that's sounds great. forgot about the Desert Rally. am skipping China F1 this year. have only missed 2 out of the last 7. but are heading for Barcelona and Monaco, after doing Melbourne and Malaysia prior
