Looks like it's $129 pa after the 1st year. If a person is looking for a zero charge card, the Red Amex is still Velocity points 1:1 but no nice bonus sign on etc. And it is an Amex.

What about someone who just can't pass a credit reference check? VGW is still best. Though the earn rate is very low, and no bonus points for being approved for the card, its open to anyone, no credit check needed, and no annual fee.
Virgin Flyer Credit Card, is still a credit card, and you would still in the end have to pay the issuer back your debt.
Oh, by the way, very selective maiden post TSV, mmm, lets hope you don't work for an issuer, in Australia meaning a bank or someone acting on behalf of. A blatant wry advert if you work for an issuer of the card.

I'm just a person who noticed that this offer hadn't been posted anywhere here yet, and having lurked for a while thought it would be a productive way to contribute. I don't have a job right now, let alone with a bank or airline. Like I said, if you can't meet income/spend requirements for the high flyer, then this is a good deal on the usual Flyer, especially compared to the offers heavily publicised on the VA website. I'm sure you're right that there are other options out there for people who can't pass a credit reference check or who simply don't like using credit.

Ahh, yeah, its good for people who have a regular income, ie, more than Aud$15,000 a year, and can prove it in one PAYG statement.
Harder if you have more than 1 source of income, or maybe more complicated.
I like and prefer the VGW/QCC.
I have too many small assignments, at least 3 or 4 with an ABN too!
I am not game enough to apply, even thought all up, I make a bit over Aud$30,000.

Of course mixing balance transfers with an spend requirement should probably be avoided. Say you carry an average balance of $500, the required spend, then factor in about $50 in interest. If doing a balance transfer.

I like and prefer the VGW/QCC.

I found this at the weekend and was going to post this offer too, now that I've just been approved. Waiting for the card to be sent out so I can activate and start earning. 25k is a nice, easy to get bonus, and the 1500/month limit won't worry me too much so this is a great find for me - at least for the first year! Whether or not the card is worth paying $129 a year for next year, I'll have to wait and see. Seems like the conclusion on the forum is that the 'Travel together and save' feature is pretty useless.
