Greetings Fellow Travellers,

I joined this forum because i learned so much instantly about how the FF programs work.

There is a lot to learn about loyalty!

I need some help to gain the simple status of FF Silver. I am already a member of the QC but i didn't realise how quickly even on discounted tix getting to silver is. (shame i bought the membership really!)

I've been travelling to Melbourne once a week for work - and hiring a car. Although the points are good the status credits are low.

I have to earn another 70 points to get to silver. Is there are spreadsheet somewhere with the flight distance, points, tier credits and fare structure so i can buy the best ticket to achieve this level?

All the best and thanks for such a good site.

Charlie

Welcome, musigurl.

A couple more bits of information are necessary before we can offer much help. First, where are you flying to MEL from? Second, when do you need the 70 SCs (status credits) by?

I'm now aware of a spreadsheet but there are some fairly easy general guides to points earning on QF, particularly domestically.

First, the two (of four) cheapest ticket types displayed on the QF website (ie. red e-deal and flexi saver) earn status credits at the discount economy rate; the higher two earn at the full economy rate.

Second, you are probably already aware that QF has a 1000 frequent flyer minimum points guarantee so everytime you fly, regardless of the distance, you will earn a minimum of 1000 points (in economy). Of course, this isn't going to help you with your status credits.

Third, status credits are probably what you're referring to as tier credits. See here.

Fourth, for flight distance, try entering your route in Great Circle Mapper. For airport codes (eg. SYD for Sydney; HBA for Hobart), try here.

Thanks for the response.

Its status credits. Sorry about that and I am in Sydney (how silly of me)

I just looked at my profile and i am delusion for some reason. I am actually

Additional Status credits required by 31 Jan 2011 to attain Silver: 180.

I currently sit at a measly 170. :( What a dope. I will need to go to Malaysia and to New York for work. But if i were trying to achieve the extra Status credits - how could i do that in Australia?

Will look at map and thanks again.

Charlie

Some possible options domestically in discount economy include SYD to:
  • PER, 20 status credits one way
  • ADL, 15 status credit one way
  • CNS, 20 status credits one way
  • MEL return nine times
