Hi all,

Thought I'd join here because I travel a fair bit to Melbourne and always seem to have random questions that none of my friends/colleagues can answer. Apologies in advance :)

Welcome to AFF RedSky!

You should get along just fine. We love random questions. ;)

Hiya RedSky - and welcome to AFF - the home of the air-ticulate! :)

And, so nice to see another Wetsern Sydney person here. Perhaps we can counter the inner city folk who seem to often predominate here (guys, Emirates - and unfortunately Qantas too - don't allow for their chaffeur services way out here in the boon docks, has a distance limitation  - really silly when you consider that Western Sydney has 10% of the Australian population living in it!)

Depends what you consider Western Sydney! Some folks I know think Westen Sydney starts from Chinatown onwards and would never travel further than that :!:

BTW welcome to AFF RedSky

There's a perfect example of the mental (and cultural) divide:!: Unfortunately, your deluded friends will have to travel a lot further west in order to be in Western Sydney:

Greater Western Sydney, Western Sydney and the Western Suburbs are general terms which are used to describe the western region of the metropolitan area of Sydney, Australia. The NSW Government's Office of the Minister for Western Sydney and the Greater Western Sydney Economic Development Board define Greater Western Sydney as 14 local government areas (LGA). These are Camden Council, City of Blacktown, City of Blue Mountains, City of Fairfield, City of Hawkesbury, City of Holroyd, City of Parramatta, City of Penrith, The Hills Shire, and Wollondilly Shire.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Western_Sydney#cite_note-0#cite_note-0

Yep I know they're a bit deluded thinking that way (I don't tell them that though ;) ) and they get kicks just visiting Dixon Street once in a while. Surpisingly they're even friends with me as I'm from Western Sydney - well when I was younger anyway.
