It took about an hour to get to Lo Wu. I'll explain the procedure before the photos. From the station platform (first pic below), it led to a general station and then to the Hong Kong border. It took me no time as I could not just use the e-channel but e-channel lanes exclusive for foreign passports with access. Then get to the Chinese border.

Australian passport holders do not need a visa right now (I think it is an 18 month trial period right now for visits 14 days and under), although it was always easier to visit Shenzen anwyay as you could get visas just for there.

I did have to complete an arrival card though and waited in a fair queue - took me half an hour to get to the front. All the officers wore masks and gloves but only 10% of the rest of the people around were wearing masks. I was asked how long I was staying in Shenzen and what I was going to do in the day and I said shopping. I honestly intended to but didn't end up doing shopping for a reason I'll get to soon. Stamped in to China, then went through a biosecurity area where we put our bags through a scanner. Then I emerged at the Lo Wu mall.
