Has anyone used the hand free Japan luggage transfer recently?
I've only used it twice, once for a small box from airport to hotel to arrive at a later date on that trip, and once from a Yamato Transport agency to airport, both pre covid.

I notice that some of the counters for this closed down for covid and don't appear to have reopened.

For this upcoming trip, I'm arriving at HND around 6am 31st and am looking to send my suitcase to the hotel (in Yokohama). It looks like only JAL ABC is still open in HND T3. Is it worth getting the suitcase shipped for same day arrival, or better to put it in a locker in Shinagawa while I do stuff in Tokyo?

Later on, I'm looking to send the suitcase from hotel in Osaka (Namba/Tennoji area) to hotel in Tokyo (Kanda) so that I don't need to deal with it on the shinkansen through an overnight side trip to Kanazawa. When would I need to drop it off with the shipping company to get it to Tokyo for PM Feb 9 check in (check in to Osaka hotel on Feb 5, check out early morning Feb 8)?

Used a couple of weeks ago, no dramas.
I'd just put it in a locker
2nd one, Osaka to Tokyo, no need to drop it off anywhere, organise it from the hotel. Will be picked up from there

My hotel in Osaka was partnered with a smaller company that only sent packages around Kansai, mainly to/from KIX.
There was a Yamato Transport agency 5 mins away. Took the bag there. Much easier to fill in the paperwork then in 2019.
I stopped by the agency on the day I got to Osaka to confirm how long ahead they needed, then took the bag along with the completed paperwork on the day required.
Bag arrived in Tokyo the day before I did when I was on the train to Kanazawa.

Most convenience stores are agents for the various Takubin services.
More upmarket hotels will organise it for you. The next step down usually have a convenience store attached to the hotel. A nd if you are in a small hotel just ask which of the konbini they recommend for your transfer. July in Hokkaido it was 7/11 or a local Hokkaido chain.
Never had it fail in 40 years of travel around Japan.
