WOW! Happy birthday from AFF! I love it. For those of you who may be interested, I turned 66 today, and I guess I am older than quite a few of the contributers to this site. However, I was lucky enough to be a VERY FREQUENT FLYER (a QANTAS Flight Steward in the Sixties) when there was no such term as Frequent Flyer! In the late Sixties, QANTAS had VIP's (Very Important People) and CIP's (Commercially Important People), and those folk were molly-coddled accordingly! I might be wrong, but I can never remember a notation on a Qantas Passenger Manifest that said someone was a Frequent Flyer! You FF folk are a more modern phenomenon! Thanks again for the birthday wishes.

I would be grateful to any FF's who can remember back to when Frequent Flyer programs started. I flew round the world many times during the Seventies (usually in First Class --- that is now simply Business Class) because I managed a very big travel company whose custom was sought by all airlines and freebies were forthcoming.

Now that I actually pay personally for my airline tickets, I am not so blase. I get very confused about FF points. My wife and I have just returned from a trip to the UK. We flew BA Premium Economy and both of us are QF Frequent Flyers. I wouldn't have a bloody clue how many FF points I have just earned, and I wouldn't have a clue how I should make sure that QF gives us the credit for this trip with their airline partner.

For someone who has travelled the World more than most, I apologize for being an out of touch wimp. What was common knowledge in the Sixties and Seventies, is ancient history today!

Please set me straight!

The first step would be to ensure that your QF frequent flyer account number is present in the reservation and shows up on the boarding cards. In general, I recommend holding on to the boarding cards until you have confirmed the flights credit in your account.

Last time I flew BA, the flights had been credited in to my account very quickly - you should see them in your QFF account online within a week of the flight. If they're not there - call QF and ask (you may need to get them credited manually)

Hope this helps, and happy birthday :)

Happy Birthday ... one modern trick is to hang on to those used boarding passes until the award points credit.

Happy Birthday Favern, I love your cute avatar :)
Do you log-in to the Qantas website to check your account?
When you joined you should have been made a 4 digit pin. To log-in go to Qantas.com.au/frequentflyer and enter your QFF number surname and pin. This should enable you to check your status and then you can navigate to your activity statement.
The BA Flights should be on there and if not you can lodge an online claim for the points/SC

Thank you Notsac, serfty and Princess Fiona for your advice! I will chase it up. Our FF numbers were definitely included when we booked the BA flights through Escape Travel, but no points seem to have been credited yet. Since we arrived back in Oz at the end of October, I think it is time to follow up. Thanks again.

Also, it would help to know the booking class ("Fare Bucket") code for each segment flown.

Excuse the selective edit, but you're just a chicken to a few of us (I think) :)

Thanks, Codash! You have made me feel better about myself. Any way, they reckon 60 is the new 40, so I am not even middle aged yet!

Happy birthday for yesterday favfern.Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of my retirement and the local hospital put on a dinner to celebrate :oops:.
Actually they did call it a Christmas function.
I am not far behind-about to turn 65.
