Has it been ticketed?

Had an interesting experience booking classic rewards on JAL yesterday.
Initially booked HAN-NRT-FRA and it accepted payment and gave me a booking confirmation on the website. Showed up on the app but no points deducted or activity on credit card. Also didnt get an email about it.

Decided to check availability again and found MNL-HND-HEL-FRA for the same dates. This worked out better as it was less points and taxes. If the first ticket had deducted points, I wouldnt have had enough for this booking.

Guess what, again it went through and this time points and cash were deducted and I got an email confirmation. However, I dont see an e-ticket number on the email PDF which makes me worried. Is this normal? It shows up on checkmytrip as confirmed, but last time I remember also getting an eticket number.

Thanks for your help.
FYI: There seems to be some random availability on JAL to Europe next April, but it is tricky to find something without changing airports at Tokyo

Can you view the booking on the JAL website (I’m trying to remember if it shows eTicket numbers).

Otherwise, RJ MMB will show eTicket number if ticketed.

Update: Tried RJ.com as suggested and I could see the booking there and select seats but no e-ticket number. Called up Qantas, got through in 3 minutes, wow 😮.

Agent seemed to be from Fiji call center, was pretty helpful and got the ticketing issue sorted out. Now, I have an email with the eticket!!

On closer look, I may have some trouble. It let me book a connection at HEL with just 1 hour layover. JL47's current schedule hasnt been updated for April. Most likely, it will remain a 14 hour flight and not a 10hour flight that it pretends to be atm. Should I change the HEL-FRA leg already to give more time or is it better to wait?

I would leave the booking as is for now.

It's likely that the HND-HEL schedule will be updated at some point (i.e. flight time made longer) to reflect the current schedule. But it's possible that if the JL47 schedule changes it will only be an earlier departure from HND, not a later arrival in HEL. So the connection in HEL might still work, and 1 hour is enough time in Helsinki.

It's also possible that the JL47 schedule will change so drastically that it doesn't connect with the following HEL-FRA flight anyway.

You'll probably have to fight Qantas to get this reticketed anyway when the schedule change for JL47 comes through, so trying to change your booking now just gives Qantas yet another opportunity to mess up your booking, sadly. :(

I'm sure you've already seen this: Warning: Don't Change Qantas Reward Bookings via Call Centre!

Thanks a lot, i will leave it as is. Dont mind having the HEL-FRA cancelled or downgraded as long as the JL legs stay as they are.

I have flown AY LHR-HEL-HKG where the layover time on the ticket was 55mins. So don't worry too much, as I think AY do those short transit times quite a lot, and while there is a bit of urging not to waste time getting to the next gate (usually through immigration) I have done it several times with success.

Oh, I wasnt so worried about the 1 hour as it is. More so that JL47 is currently scheduled as a 10 hour flight, where it is most likely to be 14 hours operating away from Russia. The 1 hour could get eaten away by the new schedule when it comes.

Having had the same JL47/48 schedule in May, these days they seem to change the departure time and attempt to keep the arrival time pretty close to the original.

But, when the schedule change comes through, before accepting it, check carefully the dates so that you can keep the connection! My flight was changed from a daytime one to an overnighter with the arrival a day later (from mid-afternoon to next morning). I was able to get the JAL call centre to change me to the night before (-1 day) but that was a JL-issued revenue ticket so your mileage is likely to vary.

That could be problematic as well as my mnl-hnd flight arrives just 6 hours prior. Lets see what happens.

Considering the new release of QF award seats, I saw a couple to get to MNL on QF. And I called up to add these to the existing booking. I wasnt sure if I cancelled altogether, JL inventory goes back up, so I decided to risk it. Had a few goes with the call centers and made sure by confirming they can see the same availability.

Now, I have got MEL-SYD-MNL (QF) and MNL-HND-HEL-FRA (JL/AY) under the same reservation number. The agent recalculated the points and the tax differences and assured me they will ticket it within 24 hours, which obviously didnt happen. I can see all the segments on my account and RJ.com, but no points deducted yet or charges on the card. I am still able to email the original eticket to myself, so the JL/AY part is still intact.

Considering that these are QF flights, how worried should I be about the ticketing delay?

So, it has been 9 days and the flights haven't been ticketed yet. Now, I feel silly trying to change this rather than cancelling it and booking it all from scratch. However, this all happened when the website was down and I wanted to make sure I secured the new segments.
Every time, I call they say there was some booking errors which have been corrected and that it has been placed into the right queue now (keeps swapping between Manila queue and Melbourne queue) to be reissued within 24 hours. I have tried HUCA several times but no one seems to be able to fix it. I always seem to go through to Fiji.

I looked up the ticket on RJ and JL and all the segments still seem to be there.
Interestingly JL has a ticketing deadline which is the same as the date of the MEL-SYD-MNL flight.
Does it mean that I dont have to worry about it as it will eventually get ticketed and the deadline is far anyway?

Update: After an email to Ms. Tully, I got a call from Auckland and the ticket has been issued :) Needless to say, I wont touch this ticket anymore.
