Hi All
First time post. I today booked a flight on the VA Australian site Brisbane to Sydney - Wife myself and infant (in lap for the domestic leg). Entered our velocity number with no issue and the flight reservation screen shows the pending flight against our Velocity login.
After booking this flight I then clicked onto the partner airlines selected Hawaiian Airlines and proceeded to booking. When I got to the "frequent flyer" number entry my Velocity number would not take. I subsequently after several attempts proceeded to finalize the booking for the 3 of us (infant in his own seat international although under 2). I then rang Hawaiian airlines and advised that my Velocity number did not work.
Here the problems began - Hawaiian said it happens all the time they continue to get calls about this very issue, and I should ring Virgin Australia. I ring VA and get put through to 2 different people who said in a "Filipino" accent, of course you will not get Velocity points, you are booking with Hawaiian Airlines. I had all sorts of trouble explaining to them about the partner airline arrangement. In the end and after no real resolve I was told to just keep my boarding passes and itinerary and raise an issue after I come home.
Really guys? If this is so common why has it not been sorted? If there is an issue at Hawaiians end then why continue the rewards relationship? I have lost almost 1.5 hours today trying to get this sorted and I am no better off than when I started.
Any suggestions?
