I'd like to send a huge thank you to all of the AFF community. I registered in December last year but this is my first post as it is a bit intimidating I will admit, but always interesting. Thanks for all the great advice on here in regards to credits and refunds. I have managed to get my two booked 2020 holidays fully refunded and I am 100% sure this would not have happened without the advice that was given by AFF members. Tomorrow was to be the departure day for our first ever European adventure starting with travelling with Qatar Airways on an A380 in business class (all of which were to be new experiences) so feeling a little sad about that but at least we didn't do our money as well, thank you again. Also a thank you to Pushka for your great read about your trip to FNQ recently, lovely to be able to read and see your photos. Any suggestions for a newbie to get the most out of the AFF site gratefully accepted.

Welcome aboard Unuuusual, sounds like you are already getting lots from AFF, when things return to normal or settle on a new normal I suggest you consider getting along to an offline meetup

Welcome aboard too @Unuuusual - as you said in your opening post its an unusual time where we are remembering more about our travels (or dreaming of it) than actually doing it. I've been fortunate to meet a lot of the AFF'ers at functions in Canberra and the annual get together last year in Sydney. As @Steady suggested, when you have the opportunity get to one of the face to face meetings - they're really not that scary, maybe just a bit obsessive about how to get points, squeeze the last bit out of upgrades, and an inordinately large amount of detailed information about which bus/train to get to save $4.30 getting from the city to the airport in xx_ location.

Holidaying vicariously is all a lot of us can do at the moment, but it's really interesting to get some insight into what things are like for those who can travel, and your photos were delightful, almost felt like I was there.

Thanks Kookaburra75 for your reply, that last bit gave me a laugh. Hopefully one day I will be able to get along to a meeting.
