Hello,
I have been on this forum for a while. Mostly lurking and just taking
in all the wonderful information.

I'm a pup compared to all of you seasoned, extremely experienced travellers.

I travel 4-6 times a year domestically, approx 1-2 times a year internationally.

Of late this has been the USA, Canada, Singapore ... But have a big trip coming
up in the middle of this year. Will need all of your help when I have enough posts :)

Welcome aboard gt4me2, look forward to hearing about your forthcoming journey. I too enjoy the planning and looking at various alternatives.

Welcome to AFF gt4me2!

Good luck with the planning of your big trip.

Thank you for the replies.Have been going through the forums for additional information.

its the middle of March though... And I'm travelling from late June to end of July... May be cutting
it short to utilize all of the methods

Yes welcome, good idea to put your location and airline membership at left makes it easier to give advise.

Many thanks for the advise

Currently in Brisbane but will be departing from Perth for my next journey

welcome Aboard gt4me2.

Where abouts do you have in mind for your next trip?

Leaving perth
looking at Dubai, Paris , London, Greece (want to visit Mykonos and some of the other islands)
then through the USA then back to Perth (the USA component isn't too much of an Aussie as have
been there many times before, just best utilising points/ff programs this time will be a new thing )
still haven't decided which parts of the USA I want to do this time and whether to include wonderful
canada this time etc

Canada..... I reckon you should go if you've never been before.
Obviously a larger nation in size than the US.
Domestic flying in Canada can be expensive though, which part of Canada did you have in mind, Ie the Rockies, Maritimes, Quebec etc?
Also a big tip the fall season ( ie from mid is September is spectacular in the Eastern Provinces & tourist season is low in the Rockies = best time of year for some value, particularly hotel accommodation!

I did the incredibly stunning Vancouver, Vancouver island and whistler already.
If I am to do it again this time , I would go east coast. Not for many flights within the country but more to experience that stunning land an those wonderful people.

Truly is the closest thing we have to Australia but dare I visually ... Ammm... Better :)

CCP, are you saying go in September after the holiday/tourist trade has finished?

My knowledge of the Hotel industry in the Rockie's in the province of Alberta is that Hotels go from 100% occupancy on many key dates in the Summer (particularly July & August) to massive slump of less than 10 % occupancy in October.
As a result of such a decrease in the numbers of tourists floating about , the hotels reduce rates substantially, particularly in the Banff /Lake Louise area's along with Jasper.

Even despite that summer has passed , the days are certainly cooler, but by no means in September/October would you be completely freezing...... Well that comes in November:cool:

Also some unbelievable deals can be had on The legendary VIA train journey from Toronto to Vancouver( Or vice versa) .... I managed to get a sleeper all inclusive with food ( fantastic three course meals in the dinning car, served three times per day for the entire trip) ...... For under $400 CAD...... What a bargain! These types of deals can be found on VIA Rail 's website , by booking directly.
The only catch is seats/ dates are supposedly limited but on the train I was on...... Everyone was on the same deal!
VIA rail is a legendary institution in Canada & a great way to see both the Rockies , The Prairies & the great metropolis of both Toronto & Vancouver.

Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario is Spectacular in the fall season with picture post card visual scenery of amazing fall colours ..... Certainly not to be missed in September!
