Hi all,

Thought I'd better say hello. I originally joined after hitting the post view limit - hence the hasty "what is in my field of view right now?" user name! Oh well, it's growing on me.

Started lurking for the trip reports, now I'm slowly cottoning on to this amazing world of frequent flyer programs! To think that my husband and I had decided on "one big trip" this year and thought that would be it for many years to come (kids and houses can be expensive)! Not any more!

Thanks everyone, already, for the advice I've found here. Looking forward to learning a lot more!

Welcome DietCoke.

Here is a question for you....

If you have two trucks, say B Doubles, each loaded with the same quantity of Coke but on one of the trucks it is Diet Coke, would both loads weigh the same or would one be lighter than the other? You might be surprised at the answer.

Assuming trucks are identical, in same location so gravity is same, I would expect the equal volume of sugary coke would be heavier as it would have higher density due to the sugar. Of course there may be packaging differences which offset it.

Coke ~1.04g/ml
Diet coke ~1.0 g/ml

Of course when you say load, you might mean mass rather than number of cans, so if you are carrying the same mass of each the load should be same.

You are correct Robbi. The diet drink was 6 tonne lighter for the same load.

I was actually surprised when I was told this.

Well there you go, I'm learning already. I'll be sure to pack only diet coke in the checked luggage :)
