Greetings all,
I'm currently based in ABX. I've noticed in my reading that there seem to be a few people around that either pass through or are Albury based also. I look forward to typing at you... and maybe even meeting in-transit at some point in the future. :D

Just out of curiosity, who's you're preferred carrier ex-ABX? I've mostly been using Rex to SYD but the lack of a real FF programme is starting to annoy me. This year I went to the US in January (VA to LAX) and actually enjoyed my stay at LAX for the first time ever... Probably something to do with spending the layover in the VX lounge. So at this point I'm leaning towards booking mostly VA flights.

I guess what I'm asking is do you like or prefer QF out of Albury? Have you had any experiences that have you raving about them?

Welcome aboard totd, Certainly an interesting home base for a person who flies a lot.

Do you prefer to go through MEL or SYD for your international flights?

MEL is only a 2.5 to 3 hr drive away, so depending on what's available, I organise quite a few of my winter flights ex-MEL... mainly to avoid the infamous albury fog. my Jan to LAX was also ex-MEL mainly because I could get a good rate, but also because I couldn't be cough working out connections for yet another leg (My flight was only MEL-LAX-SFO, so I admit it was just pure laziness). I haven't been through the lounges in either place so I don't really have a basis for comparison... yet. I'm flying J to AKL with NZ in April (W return with VA) so I'll get to check out the NZ lounge.

Long story short, I don't know. All my friends call that place in the US hell-aye-ex, but to me it's just an airport. Maybe I've just been really, really lucky with my transits.

Yeah I prefer QF because they look after me well, but mostly because there excess baggage fees saved me thousands with the gear I had to cart around with me, sometime 30-40kg of tools and equipment on top of my luggage

Welcome to the forum,

Have a look at parts in the forum that says the month and just look over and you might see someone who is on your flight or in a lounge at the same time.

Welcome to AFF totd!

And yes LAX is just another airport.
