G'day all,

Great site. When not giving you heart attacks around possible disappearance of ASA functionality, I can be found in various parts of Asia working in an interesting and niche area of IT. Unfortunately it's the back of the bus for me when it comes to flying. Mostly bottom of the bucket discount economy, across a range of airlines :evil:. So I may be flying a lot, long haul, it's gonna take some awesome tips on here to elevate my status beyond PS. I look forward to it.

Cheers
M.

Nice to do all that travel but they do not give you choice of carrier? Surely it makes sense to keep the employee happy at the same time.

It would make sense, but bean counters rule! Whilst I do the bookings myself, you are expected to pick lowest fare within reason (ie they won't force you into taking an "OMG 2am" flight), but can be uncomfortable to justify a QF flight when other airlines come up cheaper. First world problems.

Welcome aboard Middlerowed. Would you pay the extra cost out of your own pocket to get points & SC's for any Jetstar Asia flights?

G'day Inver - since finding and joining this site, I've considered using my bank of points and a bit of cash to improve the SC tally when flying on company business, but then I think "why be out of pocket a single cent, for work travel?". I know the trip would be tax deductible, but there's a huge difference between a tax offset and a tax deduction - I'll only get my marginal tax rate back. You make a point though about Jetstar Asia - if I can demonstrate it is cheaper than a discount economy full monty airline, I should be able to claim back through the expenses system. I shall investigate more. Cheers.
