Hi everyone

I can't believe I just found this website. Travel is my passion, my hobby and also partly my job. I am an academic and I teach in Singapore and Hong Kong (ex Melbourne) three or four times a year as well as travelling to Asia for leisure. For the leisure component I love to live the champagne lifestyle on a beer budget. I spend ages trawling the internet for bargains and often surprise people, especially my partner, with the deals I come up with. However this is mostly in terms of accommodation.

I am a QFF member, but not their biggest fan. I find their staff surly, the food inedible, the seats too small and my husband's DVT worrying. However I have not put in sufficient effort understanding what I can get out of QFF. I thought I was a frequent flyer until I read some of the posts on this site. Wow, some of you must spend half your life wedged into an airplane seat (sounds pretty foul).

Now I am going to read this site thoroughly and see what I can learn (a great deal I suspect)....although first I need to learn the acronyms!! I am flying to HKG on Wednesday night and have applied for an upgrade to either business or premium economy using points. Let's see how I go....

Great to find this excellent website.

Welcome to AFF!

If you're feeling social and/or want to guest or be guested into a lounge while travelling, have a look in the following Threads;

Discussion Board>Community Connections>Meetings and Social Events

Some people post their travel and locations each month so they can meet up with other AFF members for either guesting into lounges or a chat. Entirely up to you! :lol:

Hi again, thanks folks. This whole guesting thing is entirely new to me. I went and had a look at the thread, and thank you for providing it. Can I ask, have you ever done it? I am not really very social to be quite honest, and especially before an overnight flight I want nothing other than peace and quiet. But on the other hand I like to think of myself as a generous person, I would be more than happy to give someone the opportunity to come into the lounge if they didn't think I was rude for then just going off and being quietly alone. Does that fit with the culture of this group? :oops: I'm not a drinker BTW, I am in the QFF for the free luggage upgrade!

I'm with you. A simple and heartfelt thank you, have a good flight and bye is often all I want if I guest someone into the lounge.

A good guest understands these things.

Welcome to our little home and I hope you enjoy your time here.
