Hi AFF,

I'm a student at QUT who flys fairly regulary (for a student anyway) to visit my partner and family who live outside of Brisbane. I've been completeing an assignment for a customer relationship managment subject and given my regular flying habits I've chosen to develop a concept for an airport loyalty programme (as opposed to an airline programme).

I have been drawing alot of information and ideas from AFF member's posts so I thought I should sign-up, introduce myself and thank you all for your insights.

Cheers

Welcome.

As nlagalle said, sounds interesting, hopefully you can share with us some more details as it progresses, and then benefit from the discussion of various parts of it too :p

Airport loyalty programs would have limited scope in Australia, I believe the Sydney patrons are very loyal by default! Different case OS of course!

Changi Airport runs a Changi Rewards program for residents there, and they don't have much choice (aside from driving across the border). One thing they are doing is trying to give people a reason to go to the airport precinct even when you may not be travelling, hence some of the leisure activities you find there.

I see your point - making it a destination when not flying etc, of course Singapore residents could try Seletar however the choice of flights is restricted, and they are owned by Changi anyway!

Welcome.

On the subject, I'd go to Sydney airport for a beer or two and watch a few planes if there was an easy access bar that didn't cost to park or rip me off on the beer price. But, with Macbank being involved I don't think it will be happening any time soon.

Wow, thanks for all the interest guys. I'd be more than happy to provide a run down on what I've put to gether so far, is there a more appropriate
thread for this?

@markis10 and oz_mark, From what I've seen so far most airport programmes are being devleoped in areas where airports have to compete for customers; which does as you say, have a limited scope in AUS. Perhaps 'loyalty' programme was the wrong terminology to use, but I was thinking more along the lines of a premium program like Schiphol's Privium (Schiphol - Privium)

I do that in MEL, but sit in the car and watch the planes land...

An interesting project. Australia has the tyranny of distance and population when compared to Europe.
Indeed keep us informed of your progress

If they tried that trick in Australia they would need to provide free travel or free parking for shoppers. Or do they already do something similar? Does one get a free airtrain trip for shopping at the DFO near BNE airport?
