Flying today Mel-syd QF, then LAN J (sep tix) .

LAN called and said flight canceled to Auckland due to medical emergency coming from Chile.

They rebooked me on air new Zealand business late tonight.which is fine considering this was just a status run anyway.only problem is can I still get my points and SC's due to being rebooked on air nz? By scanning LAN tix and air nz bp?

If not I may call them back and accept the refund!

Just surprised they rebooked every one on air nz flights and not QF?

QF service desk couldn't help as on LAN ticket.

Pls help!! My first bonafide non holiday status run and this is how it turns out!! :(

To make it worse both the LAN 1800 number and 02 number say is a Wong number!! So much for support of the oneworld alliance.

Sent from my using AustFreqFly

It's happened before, and folks have reported getting original routing credit, so should not be an issue. Have you got an Air NZ number or Velocity number ;).

Yes, but don't want velocity points want qf. :)

Let's see how I go

I think the point markis10 was making was QFs systems don't talk to NZ's...

Got it ;)

Thanks for the early morning assistance, will repost once I know what's going on

This happened to me 3 weeks ago - I was on LAN from Sydney to Santiago via Auckland and the flight to Auckland was cancelled and they put us on Air NZ. I still got Qantas points and SC from Sydney to Santiago - I just sent a copy of my Eticket and Air NZ boarding pass to QF and got the points. They should honour it.

Email QF asking for ORC.

A scan of your BP and a copy of your eticket should do it

Same thing has happened to me, flight from AKL to SYD was cancelled, they re booked me on Air NZ - called QF a couple of days later and they posted the full miles and SC's over the phone!
Also strangely they also let me into both the QF and Air NZ lounge (was looking for something edible so was trying both options.......

That involves a bit of walking if in SYD, a group of us did it recently as part of a F lounge run where the JQ flight arrived at a gate near the AirNZ lounge in what normally is a * alliance terminal.

You'll be fine :)

Keep airNZ boarding pass and LAN eticket and send to QF for SC and FF points from QF.

LAN book people onto QF then NZ, so QF must have been full.

As others have mentioned if you have a Velocity or Airpoints number you can be cheeky and claim them as well if you can be bothered.

Flew to sydney just so I could get someone that would help me (LAN service desk) as the LAN phone numbers weren't working in the morning.

Very helpful LAN guy offered to put me on a QF flight at 4pm, but still that was too late for my liking.
There was a 12:10 QF flight but no J seats left.

Alas I opted to have the flight changed to another date in the future which they did without any hesitation.
The QF checkin lady working for LAN checkin kindly changed my SYD-MEL flight from tomorrow to this morning so I flew straight back to MEL.

Oh well, at least I got 2000 points and 20 SC's for today and went to the QF lounge twice, then will resume my LAN J run at a later date.. Take 2..

Thanks all for your advice this morning!! :)

Ask for the original routing credits, regardless of how you got home you had a plan and that included and return in J.

no harm in trying.

i am surprised, I would have taken the AirNZ flight.

i am surprised, I would have taken the AirNZ flight.

I really wanted to I just couldn't bare sitting in sydney til 6:40pm considering I woke up at 4am to take the 6am to sydney, just too tired. :)

On top of that they said the LA801 AKL-SYD tomorrow is likely to be cancelled too as it'll arrive in auckland and turn around straight away back to Chile, not going to sydney so no doubt I would have fun getting back.
I need to be at work on Monday so can't be sitting around waiting for a flight from AKL on a sunday night.

hi all,

Quick question, I am on a LAN flight from akl and has been delayed.will miss my QF connecting flight (separate tix red edeal).
What are ppl's experience with QF proactively moving u to later flight (they put a ghost booking on my Qf flight so they should know about the delay). Also is it better to Checkin and not show or not checkin and not show from a QF rebooking perspective?

and please no lectures on separate tickets, and am aware of the risks, but in my case had no other choice, just need any helpful advice or past experiences to get around having to buy another ticket :) :)

Thanks all!!

Checking in will only add extra work to the fix, if it's clear it's a miss ring QF and explain, should be sorted on the phone.

Called them and they were of no interest in helping, actually they only offered for me to pay $250 for a later flight, which I could book directly through their website for $133!! Needless to say I didn't go ahead with it, the lady was actually a little rude when I said I can book a brand new flight on the QF website for the same flight.
Once landed in Sydney spoke with the staff on the ground at transfers and they helped me out very quickly and I was on a flight to MEL within 30 mins of landing.. thanks QF this is the reason I keep flying with you :)
After this experience i'd rather deal with someone on the ground any time of the day rather than the phone service.

Small trip report with photos to come soon :)

That's great service and a great result.

Do keep in mind that staff on the ground have much more flexibility to bend the rules than the call centres whose every keystroke and conversation is recorded ;).

Technically they were correct - QF didnt have to do a thing and the fact that they did for you is wonderful but over and above their responsibility to you!
