Sorry in advance for dumb questions , BUT am new to actually trying 'to use' my QFF points.
I can get to London using points approx 92000 (via Bangkok) but no return flight to Melb available. Is the obvious answer 'BAD LUCK" or can anyone offer suggestions to this novice?
Also, is there an 'easy way' of calculating what the points cost is in A$ terms (and therefore when it is not worth bothering and better to pay for flight)?

Thanking you in advance for your insights.

I am not quite sure how you arrive at 92,000 points to get from Melbourne to Bangkok. When using the points calculator for Classic Awards it spits out 64,000 points for Melbourne/London, or 72,000 points for Melbourne/Bangkok/London. Maybe you are looking at points to cover the cash component. Unless you have lots of points my preference is not to use points to cover such cash.
People have varying views of the value of points, usually ranging from 1 cents to 3 cents.
Always seems to be easier to get awards going overseas, than it is coming home.

Could be a YASA, sounds in the ball park for it...

You have left it a bit late to get good flights back from LHR to MEL. However try a multi-city booking (with flexible dates) vai HKG, SNG, BKK or NRT. You could also try a trip via the USA (JFK or LAX) but I don't think there's much availability left for a September return. It's still 64000pts if you stick with QF/AA.
