Can someone please assist advise the best way to earn the 85 required to Silver Status by 31/10/2012 - I received the recent bonus offer and my husband did'nt and he needs 85 too. Melbourne based but with nothing in the pipeline at the moment. Sitting on 800,000+ points (saving for a J class RTW Explorer in 2013) and husband has 300,000+.....Trouble is I don't know whether its worth the effort to get to silver, have only achieved it once before. Thanks in advance

IMHO I don't put any real value in Silver.

The benefits start when you get to gold.

If you had some travel planed then go for it otherwise don't bother IMHO

If you can do status run via Brisbane or Sydney to Darwin using any seat award will get you stacks of status points. Aug next 72K points + $370 will get you 480 status points and 11K points back on double offer. Gold is the way to go.

I would agree Gold is the way to go, but if you’re going to be doing a J RTW then you’ll have lounge access and most of the important benefits that Gold provides anyway.

From BNE you could easily get to Platinum with 96k points and a little cash in two JASA’s to DRW, which would make the RTW more fun as you’d get to use the F lounges, but it’s a lot of work, a lot of flying ;)
