Hi Guys,
I am currently 195 points shy of QFF Gold. I have a trip to Singapore and Auckland booked that should net me 100 status credits, but need to know the most economical (in $$$) run to net 95 status credits at the moment ex Melbourne. Time wise, happy to do the run over a weekend.

thanks in advance!

Adi

When do you need the additional 95 Sc's by?

Thanks! I've been perusing the site for a while now (ever since travel for work started last year), so it's great to be a member!

I need to get the 95 status credits by the 31st July 2012.

Currently planned:
Auckland over a weekend in May (5th and 6th) and,
Singapore in June (3 weeks from the 7th).

You have plenty of time and historically QF offers double SCs to selected members around mid-late April, often a condition of these offers is the flights need to be booked after the offer is sent out, I would be waiting for a while to see how things go, you essentially have nothing to loose. If it does not work out then a quick run down to HBA to get on the HBA-CBR JASA will probably be the cheapest option to net 100 SC in quick time.

Generally the offers of a 50% bonus or double SC are for tier retain and not to elevate you to the next level though.

Not true at all, this is normally a sweeping double SCs offer for all flights booked after xx_ and flown by xx_:

Note last year was May, I believe they wait until after Easter and of course last year Easter was end of April.

cheers! I was worried that I may miss out on the GP sale fares, but I see that there is really no difference for Business Class fares.

thanks again!

Agree with this part but the emails state: "This is a fantastic opportunity to help you keep the benefits and privileges of your Gold Frequent Flyer membership for another year." The bonus SC post as "tier retain bonus SC": the object of them is to retain your current level.

What I am asking is: Is the OP a SG and needed 95 sc to retain or a PS looking to elevate to SG?

If the former then yes, I would definitely look out for an offer.

The offer has been made to members of all status levels, not just SG or WP, it has also been sent out to some people in the thread who had already retained status. History has shown this to be a more mass targetted campaign than the helping hand ones that appear as one closes in on a anniversary date finding themselves short, basically revenue maximisation in time for EOFY. If you read the thread there are quite a few examples of various status members :

SG already requal (who seems to have become a WP ;) ) http://www.australianfrequentflyer....status-credits-2011-a-29970-4.html#post433936

WP already on 1500 SC with anniversary 4 weeks after offer email http://www.australianfrequentflyer....status-credits-2011-a-29970-4.html#post433943

Absolutely it can be sent to anybody... My point is I wouldn't count on it if I was the OP though.

I agree there are no certainties, but with an expiration date for the SCs of July, it would be prudent to hold off, its a big campaign that seems to affect around 25% of all QFF members each year. Would not be surprised if its offered to more this year given the financials YTD, its a low cost incentive from QF's point of view.

That's true - I held my bookings and was lucky enough to get one. I had 520 SC when I received the email on Jan 3 with a YE of March 31.

Also have a look at some J* friday frenzy deals and might be able to get some cheap SC's as well.

That's if you like deathstar

Do you have points available to burn for a status run? I needed 330 on 1Jan by 30apr, and got 220 through JASA and YASA (booked them before I took on a lot of travel early in the year for work).

Are you able to change the AKL trip? LAN have cheap business class fares from SYD-AKL and combined with a domestic connection from MEL you could replace your exisiting booking. So about $750 you can get 160 SCs. Plus maybe $200 for domestic connection earning a further 20 SCs.

Cheer guys :)
I received an email last Friday offering me double status credits to Hong Kong, however when I went to register for the offer I got directed to another page on Qantas that said I was not eligible for the offer?

I'm not too fussed about missing out on 2xSC to HK - not sure if I could have even taken up the offer, but does this now rule me out of the potential late-April offering?

I doubt it, the HKG offer was celebrating the launch of A380 flights, not really related to a normal double SC offer.

thanks again!

So did the planets align and a double SC opty appear?
