Help With QFF RAR Honeymoon

So it's finally happening; we're getting married on October 4th this year and it's already coming up fast.

We want to get to RAR on QFF points and then of course nip across to AIT for a few days while we're at it, as they do. I think most flights are from SYD and AKL, but I even thought of routing via ZQN for the sake of two short nights of peaceful R & R at the Hilton there. Or even via CHC in EK's F if you could convince me.

However, it seems that the Oct 8 ex-Australia or ex-NZ to RAR QFF reward flight has dropped out of the system. We're somewhat flexible with dates, anytime after Oct 6 really, but getting back to work on Oct 21 is proving difficult too. Do any folks with higher status happen to see more options here?

I think FJ stopped their NAN – RAR flights a while ago now, which is thoroughly annoying. SB isn't much help either (they never are in this context).

TN perhaps, via PPT?

Open it up: what are your suggestions? What are your ideas? Any route will do, any stopover, any layover. Is there a goer? Help us out here, folks!

No, we don't have any hotel points nor have I had hotel status in more than a decade. Are there alternatives that are just as good that aren't the run-of-the-mill type of places (i.e. something a little different)? Ideally aiming to fly on QFF points...

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding.

RAR is a thin route

Cook Islands is closely linked with NZ. More Cook Islander's in NZ than on the islands.
NZ RAR can be a busy route. NZ school holidays from 28 Sept to 14 Oct

Looked at cash tickets?
Hotel & flight package may offer value.
Or another South Pacific island.

Oh... NZ school hols. I didn't think of that. Yes, that might be a problem for availability, although the same goes both for JQ's SYD – RAR flight and JQ's AKL – RAR. Both are holed up with no reward availability. A thin route, indeed.

Now imagine if we could claim for QFF reward seats on Air NZ. That would change things, and add other routes into the water too, like Niue.

Guessing we might have trouble too with IPC and GPS this far out.

IUE only by Air NZ

IPC is a fascinating place, but only connected by air to SCL
When I went to IPC more than a decade ago was an onwards flight IPC to PPT

GPS only from South America

Have you looked at other Sou Pac islands?

Would you consider Tahiti instead? I can see reward seats in Business to PPT on 9th Oct... ex MEL

Not bad for school hols.

Once there you have options to nip across to the lovely Moorea or Bora Bora

Also some Y availability on 6th Oct. ex SYD

Maybe one week Tahiti, and one week in AIT. Thanks.

Any useful Air NZ credit card bonuses at the moment?

Have QF stopped their partnership with HA?

Ok, thanks folks. You've been a tremendous help.

MEL – ZQN – (AKL) – RAR – AIT – (RAR) – (SYD) – MEL.

Now, if you were honeymooning, where would you stay at ZQN for 2 - 3 nights?

I was thinking the DoubleTree but might there be a more cosy, romantic lodge further out of Queenstown?
