I need some help from the SC run gurus.

Due to the current financial crisis, work has locked down the T&E budget, and I am in need of 160SC.
I will get some trips next year, but I am going to save the associated SCs for the next year.

I have FF points and need some suggestions on how to most effectively burn them for JASA - I did it last year (and didn't need to!).

I was thinking of taking the mrs and kids on a holiday around the last week of January 2012 - JASA for me, but cash paid Y for them :)
We did Melbourne last year, but this time around given the amount required, I'd need to do it twice
I tried looking at flights taking the "scenic route" (eg. Sydney to Canberra to Melbourne, but it seems they are a stuck pairing and doesn't look like you can change the legs to different days?)

I can do JASA to Perth to get 160SC, but I'm then up for a fair bit of cash). Launceston/Hobart via Melbourne appears, but then I'm not sure what I'd do with the kids.

Ideas/Suggestions please! :)

Most simple thing I can think of would be do 2 x SYD MEL returns, for 40 SC @ 22513 points in J each way, or 16000 & $65.57. Gives a nice 80 SC.
In fact, why not pop down for a few hours at the MEL Xmas party? I see there are still seats available on the 4pm flight at this rate... and the 8am returning home. Or if you just spend a few hours, for more points you can get home Fri pm. Then one other afternoon, just do the same again. I can see lots of availability at the low points rate. Flights are so frequent that if there are delays / mechanicals you would imagine they'd be able to just slide you onto another flight.

Sometimes it's easier to do 2 things seperately, and muddying up the family holiday with not sitting with the family can lead to its own problems.

Presumably you are based in SYD.

When do you need the SC's by?
