Mrs Albatross & I both have 12k in our respective Krisflyer accounts. MrsA is unlikely to have any SQ earn in the next year or so.

I have upcoming economy travel on SQ which I will need 58,000 miles to upgrade eligible Y to J

Our current Velocity setup is Family pooling with Mrs A pooling into my Account.

To utilise those orphaned miles in MrsA's account I'm proposing:
  1. Cease the Velocity Family Pooling.
  2. Family transfer 71,300 velocity pts to MrsA
  3. Partner Transfer 71,300 velocity to Krisflyer, landing 40,600 miles into MrsA KF
  4. Use MrsA KF miles to upgrade my tix as I will be a redemption nominee.
  5. Reinstate Velocity Family pooling
How does this look as a plan? My question marks are on the VA family pooling ending, letting me transfer points back into her account then commence family pooling again.

It should be OK.

Just make sure there is a calendar day between each action as ISTR same day changes can be problematic

You are right as I get a confirmation message "You have successfully stopped pooling Points with Albatross710. Changes will take effect from 12:01 AM (AEST) tomorrow."
