Hi All,

I want to share my experience with a Hertz points redemption in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Essentially, I was looking for a free hire car when planning a trip. I booked a car for a week on points, then cancelled. Booked again for another week, then a week or so later cancelled, about 75% of my points were returned. Oops, but that's ok I finally confirmed my dates and locked in a 4 day booking. The points were taken from my account, I called up to check if everything was ok and told if the points when out it's all good.

A few days after my rental I was charged the full amount. I queried this, although it took a long time and I had to threaten to escalate the issue I got a refund.

What I was told was that I didn't have enough points 'at the counter'. I queried this again by reply email and was not really given an answer as far as I can understand it. I'm going to attach/copy the communications below in chronological order top to bottom.

Interested as to whether someone can explain to me what has actually happened here?
