One of the more interesting car hire pricing issues i have had lately is the massive differences between using Hertz without logging in (ie member of the general public) which resulted in my price being 493 Euros....logging in (Hertz Five Star #1 Club) results in the prices for the same car, pick up and drop off location and hire duration being approx DOUBLE! 763 Euros.:shock:

Anyone else had this issue?

Are you on a corporate/contracted rate with your five star?

I have certainly seen cheaper rates when not logged in. Not common, but does occur.

Not seen that big a gap though.

As has been posted on AFF many times previously, there is a simple explanation for higher prices when logged in compared with not being logged in and it is nothing sinister.

Hertz profile allows different insurance options for different regions in the world, which were either set up when you joined or have defaulted to decline all insurance options.

Hertz offer Aussies packaged rates including all insurances to many places in the world.

If your profile is set to decline any or all of the insurances for the region you are looking at, the packaged rates will not be available and a rate which does not include insurance will be provided, which is usually higher.

Check your profile and make sure you have accepted CDW, TP an LIS where available and you will see the same rates whether logged in or not.

Rather than being negative, I see the choice and offer of packaged rates as a positive.
