Might be a useful if we can list Hilton Chain Hotels that still deliver status benifits if booking made through 3rd party as opposed to direct bookings.
Waldof Astoria Shanghai - I have a 4nt booking here May 5-9 booked via Citibank 'Stay 4 / Pay3' promo. I know the Asst Gen Man from previous stays and after making booking I emailed her and specifically asked will Dia Staus benefits still flow and received an 'absolutely' via return email.
(First time I ever stayed at WAS was via a free Hilton nt as part of Cent package one year - I just checked in without showing Dia Card and went to room. Within 30mins I had same Asst Gen Man knocking on my door asking was I Dia Member and why I didn't advise desk at check in - felt there was no point as was a compl nt - anyways she had another key card and transferred me to suite without me asking)
Hilton Singapore - have had mixed reactions here - single nt stays booked via Trivago or one of those - one time I asked about Lounge access and was told no - I replied I thought that was unreasonable and would be emailing HH directly to voice my disappointment - Manager overheard and advised that as I was Dia I was still welcome in lounge.
Another time exactly same scenario but this time no lounge access granted.
