I don't believe this has been discussed previously, but I had noticed seeing a range of HH member discounts appearing when searching for Hotels in Amsterdam.

An email arrived today titled "We Want You to be the First to Know About New HHonors Benefits Starting NOW!". Following the link to a page that says:

Stop clicking around. Start saving.

Now, HHonors members get
the lowest price anywhere
and free Wi-Fi.*

Basically new HH discount flexible rates for HH members.

Some of the HH rates I've seen are lower than AAA discounts, but still have the same flexibility. eg a random date in July for HSYD has Easy Cancellation: $369, AAA $351 and HH: $332! (Quite a significant reduction, although the day in question seems quite expensive!.... Not that I get to stay there in my hometown.)

Think it's more encouragement to get people to book direct so Hilton don't have to pay commissions.

Same for the wide availability US Olympic codes

They've been rolling these rates out progressively over the last few months, starting in the US but seems they're at every hotel now...

Have booked a few stays at H SYD, BNE and HSW tonight on the HHonors rates and good to see they're fully flexible just as the normal rates are.

AAA rate still shows lower for me when booking 1-2 weeks out.I would take a guess you need to book well in advance before the HHonours rate is lower.

Yes, which is why I said 'some rates' are better than AAA. I made some bookings in AMS for late March. One using HH and another with AAA. Odd.

I just wish it was like the Rydges discount which for me is 15% off best rate regardless if it is 1 week or 6 months away.

What ID is required on checkin to support the AAA rate?

If they ask (not common in my experience) one of the affiliated motor cards eg NRMA RACQ etc. My NRMA card has a AAA logo on back

I was at Doubletree in Amsterdam and they asked for my AAA membership card. They accepted the AAA on the NRMA card no problem. I notice you are in AKL so presumably you have an equivalent motoring organisation.

Is that common (not checking) to all of the accommodation chains (thinking IHG)

edit; to make question more specific

hi serfty, if this was in reply to my question I have edited my post to make it a bit clearer. Unfortunately RACT is not affiliated wit AAA so I cannot use it

Luckily RACWA have an affiliate membership that is $29 per year, if you find yourself using a few AAA discounts and a little worried about proof. They also give other discounts but many outlets are WA specific I would imagine.

Thanks Cynicor, I recall you telling me about that before a trip to the LOTFAP. I don't often see the AAA rate cheaper then the Hotel member rate but it would be good for the times it is.

Yes, I'm an AA member in New Zealand. Is this affiliated to AAA?

International Clubs | AAA Exchange

they seem to get benefits as AAA in NZ.
There is actually a 3 digit NZAA code on the back of my card. Hmmmm!!! I always wondered but assumed no. Might be worth a call to AA in NZ.

Reciprocal Services Overseas Including NRMA, CAA and More | AA New Zealand

Might have a go and if denied at HH then plead ignorance.

If you try first then could you please report back? I have zero HH bookings to date! But early days....

Can you post a photo (with personal details obscured) of the logo/code on the back?

I note the USA Olympic rate is now finished. Pity, that was occasionally good value.
