Discovered this site over the weekend after doing some googling about frequent flyer programs.

GF and I are planning a RTW trip next Jun/Jul/Aug and I'm looking for ways to boost Qantas miles & status in order to minimise the cost of the flights - any suggestions welcome!

Seems to be a wealth of information here as well as some very knowledgeable people - hopefully i'll know enough to be able to contribute soon.

Cheers

If you're looking to earn points before your RTW, have a look at the various CC offers, in particular I'd imagine the Every Day Rewards (EDR) CC would be a good first start, with a healthy bonus of about 16,000 points on first use.

You should also be shopping at Woolworths to earn points on your groceries, and if you're after status, and have a lot of spare points, booking JASA's for domestic/international travel prior to next year should help elevate your status before then. If planning on checking luggage in the US you need to be at least Silver (Ruby) to get it for free, and Gold would obviously get you lounge access, which would be nice.

Otherwise, welcome to AFF!

It is nice move to post regarding the ways to minimize the cost of the flights at the AFF community. The smart travel choices are the key to reducing your flight expenses!

Cheers!!
