hi, just popping in to say i am embarking on my first OS trip next year and am keen to get pointers... going to the US (New York, Las Vegas, Portland)

Welcome aboard Heathsouter, always good to see people excited about their imminent trips.

Have you decided who you're flying? What class? Will you maximise your status whilst travelling? I've been to New York and Las Vegas, would go back to New York in a flash. Not so Las Vegas, I think it is a once only city.

yeah i figure Vegas will be a short stay, just going there to renew my wedding vows (and possibly have a star wars theme ceremony) the more i think about it though, we may end up skipping vegas altogether... only so much i can jam into 2 weeks. portland will be visiting family and of course visit voodoo donuts...

as yet havent decided who we are flying with... absolutely clueless on where to start....

Well your home airport would be the best place. :)

Now is the time to start planning because some routes do fill up quickly and are more expensive due to school holidays etc.

just realised i cant post in the fare finder thread....

anyone have tips on planning a journey? 1 week NYC, 2 days Nevada, 2 days Oregon. departing from ADL on 22 April, return 7th May.

As i said previously, im a total newbie when it comes to international travel... only ever flown domestic

Maybe enter your desired itinerary in Expedia and see what they offer and then use that as the basis for future exploration.

Is the order of cities set or can it be changed?
