Hi All from sunny Thursday Island.... my first post! I'm relatively new to the forum although I have been a subscriber for a number of years.

Let me say this forum has been extremely helpful although the flight codes and acronyms tend to get me. Looking forward to planning some RTW (Round the World, first go at a acronym, probably the wrong one:p) trips in the next few years, so I will be frequenting these pages a lot more. I'll explore a bit more before asking for advice.

Have a great day all!

Welcome! I visited TI a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but missed out on the cultural centre (was closed) and a way to get to the most Northerly point of Australia. Something to work on for next time.

Welcome aboard! My sister used to live on coconut island, close to TI. Tough gig getting to and from TI bro.

Welcome to the AFF fold inomukas, as for the acronyms I can say that learning them has taken some time and yes I still get it wrong. But you can always go and look at the meaning anytime on the AFF pages. Therefore I have chosen to do what you do write the Acronym and then write the meaning afterwards I always thought that was considerate.
Have a good time.
Marki

PS love the Torres Strait's they operate in a different pace to what we are used to on the mainland.

Inomukas can you see me waving from Palm Island ?

Wow..TI..
i worked up there back in 1978 at the branch of National Bank of Australasia... Now NAB.
Flew (first class too) out of BNE to TSV then CNS on a Ansett 727.. Change planes, to a Fokker F27 to Wiepa then Horn Island. Then a boat (Mary Elton) to TI.
I was only 19 at the time and had just moved out of home.
TI was my introduction to fishing and the real world. It was and still is a very remote part of Australia...And I not really done any fishing on that scale since. Mackerel, Red Emporer, Barracuda. The locals were very friendly, I had such a great time for those 8' months..
I plan to make a return visit to TI one day, the closest I seem to get these days is Port Douglas each year.

oh, and welcome to AFF Inomukas
