Hi!
As the thread title says, I’m poor, but I want to travel. I’m a cash strapped student and I’m hoping to scam my way into enough points to get where I want to go. I’ve been reading the forums here for only a short time, but I’ve already received a lot of helpful tips.
Thanks for being such incredible sources of information!

Welcome.

If you are cashstrapped then gaining points maybe a slow process till you are less cashstrapped. But keep building your points as they will eventually add up.

Lost cost airlines have in recent years really boomed including international connection to Australia. If you are flexible there are some very cheap flights that you can buy. This may be the best way to travel now. But educate yourself on points building now as they do add up and when your income is higher you will know how to grab all the opportunities as they arise.

At the moment I’m mostly getting Flybuys bonus points by buying large quantities of necessities (I have so much toilet paper in my house right now!). I’m also switching my gas supplier for points (it’s cheaper too). These are fine, but the really annoying thing is that I don’t have enough income to apply for the large credit card bonuses.

Welcome aboard!

It's certainly possible to play the game when on a low income. I know from experience. But it's certainly not scamming by any means. It takes work and effort but the end result is worth it :)

welcome to AFF!

I was in your shoes few years ago.
I took lots of JQ, tigerair, and Airasia flights back then, it was exciting to find a good deal
Only until I received my first Silver status and it hooked me into the game

Hi and welcome!
Your situation will improve, and you will be able to take advantage of some of these offers. In the meantime, live through some of the great people doing trip reports. You learn a lot about places and there no need to be jealous ... you will be doing the same thing soon!
