Hi all
I’m from Brisbane, mid-30s (ok late 30s) and absolutely love researching travel and think the flights are a big part of my holiday and not just about getting from A-B!

I worked as a TA long ago for about a year so have basic background knowledge.

At the moment hubby is velocity gold, United gold (by status match) and we are accumulating (by credit card) and converting everything to Krisflyer miles in anticipation of our big Europe trip next august in planning. Hubby is FIFO for work so building the points nicely. Keen to buy SQ premium econ outright then upgrade a leg or two to business for Europe. Current itinerary going into Lon then out of Ath (scoot only for that leg I know).

Just waiting for the Sept SQ early bird fares (hoping that’s still when they come out!) for the best price possible then use the points after the fact. Will be doing more research into how the upgrade availabilities work for miles and do dummy searches to ensure the seats are there and hopefully on the A380!

Anyway thanks for all the info and any future answers to my amateur queries along the way. Will ensure to watch for similar posts first. Only ever flown economy internationally so excited already for the trip. Lots more travel to come in the future as well.

Happy Friday

Sounds like a great plan for 2024! Welcome - there is a lot of good information here and also many knowledgeable people who are happy to help and share.

Welcome @SJCunning .
There is a problem in your plan. We have a future cruise ending in Athens so have searched SQ awards ATH - SIN and nothing now shows up except paid fares with a stop in various European airports flying Agean or TK and connecting to SQ. On the SQ website it doesn't come up with any Scoot flights. However on the Scoot website you can buy Y or J fares on the days Scoot flies. No way to get an award on those flights on the Scoot website.

Now a while ago Scoot did show up in searches for awards ATH -SIN but now absolutely nothing So now I am going to try for QR awards when our date becomes available using AA or BA to get them.

I see. When I do a revenue search the Scoot direct to SIN and then SQ to australia shows up but i know that you cant usually get award seats when there's a code share flight involved. As such we are now planning on booking economy flexi tix one way to LHR and then upgrading with miles for legs that are available (will book the day they're released and ensure 2 x saver seats are available on the exact flights before i book the Y flexi fares so i can upgrade immediately). Then just book scootplus for ATH to home as its most direct and i've flown scootplus before and its not too bad. At least i'll get the bucket list business seat going over hopefully.
