Hi,

I'm a HH Diamond Member. If I book a stay at a Hilton using a website such as expedia, or wotif, do I still receive the Diamond entitlements upon check in ?

Thanks,
Lukasz

I should add I'm not that fussed either way about earning points/stays. More so about the possibility of being upgraded to a better room, breakfast, etc. When I look on the Hilton website, the hotel does not even have any availability, but when I check on wotif, its there.

If you are lucky they will recognise you as a Diamond member but do not be surprised if they do not.

Have you contacted then to try and apply a price guarantee :?:

I did, but they said they have no rooms available for my requested dates.
Wotif is showing plenty of availability, so I don't know how it works? I've ended up booking through wotif - it was a secret room deal - 1/3 of the price of what Hilton had. So I'm not really expecting to get the benefits - would be a nice bonus though.
Is it somehow possible to attach the wotif booking number in the HHonors profile ?

Officially HHonors status beneifits are not supposed to apply to stays book through sites such as Wotif.

That should not stop you asking (nicely) to get you HHonors number logged - but don't be put out if they reject your request.

When you say "logged" - do you mean I should ring the Hilton number, and ask them to add the booking to my Hilton account, or wait until checkin at the hotel ?

Both - for the former you'll need a Hilton Family Hotels booking reference.

I think I only have a Wotif booking number.
How can I obtain the Hilton ref no from Wotif ?
No idea!

I suggest call the hotel and asking if they have a booking in your name and if so what is it's reference number. I would not mention "wotif".

Just rang the hotel but they don't have any reservations for me yet. Does it usually take a while for the reservation to filter through to the hotel ?

I'm about to do the same thing. How did it work out linking the booking to Honors?

I rang the hotel directly and asked them to confirm they have a reservation for me (just by name and date) then asked for the reservation number. Then rang the Hilton honors number and got them to add my hhonors number to the reservation. Everything now shows up in my hhonors future stays. I also rang the hotel separately and asked them to add my hhonors number in their system.

I'm going through this at the moment - I'd love to book via the Hilton website but i'm finding $20-$60/night differences vs expedia, and Expedia has the advantage of locking in the current AUD. As a Hilton Gold should I bother using the Hilton website? If i'm not getting any Benefits should I bother with Hilton at all?

How would a price guarantee work across different currencies?

I just stayed at a London Hilton booked via Expedia. They honored free Wifi and I got 2 bottles of water and some cookies. No Upgrade given. The stay has posted as 0 points. Is that what I should expect?

i am thinking it better to buy the better room off the wotifs of the world than chase status through the hotel management companies

I actually got all Diamond priveledges with the wotif.com booking. It started with an upgrade to a junior suite and executive lounge access. As we had a second room booked for the in-laws, they also got upgraded to a junior suite after I told the staff we would like to have rooms close to each other. The inlaws were also given lounge access. On top of that I got hhonors points for both rooms - points only, not total nights. Overall a very positive experience and they never once mentioned any issues with booking via wotif.com - I even noticed when they were looking up my bookings it clearly said in bold letters "wotif.com" but this didn't stop the hotel from giving all Diamond Hhonors benefits.

Well done - it seems like staff did not know the rules or did not care.

I suggest if you wish to risk not getting the benefits against the cheaper rate do so, but don't be upset or disappointed if the elite benefits are correctly denied.

Where is this documented? It seems like an odd rule and I couldn't spot it in the T&Cs.

I got free wifi and water at the hilton on an Expedia booking over Christmas.

The wifi was automated. When I put my room number and name in it just automatically said I'm gold, free wifi.

Whats so odd about a chain trying to encourage users to book direct and thus not have a commission to pay? Most of them do it when it comes to FF benefits.

As to the rules, try section 3:

Specifically excluded from the definition of "stay" are the following types of ineligible stays: wholesale/tour operator packages; contracted crew rates; travel agency discount rates, packages exclusively for casino player card holders; Team Member Travel rates, Hilton Family Travel Rates; stays secured utilizing Hilton Grand Vacations Club and Hilton Club timeshare programs, Hilton Grand Vacations marketing packages with a sales presentation requirement; complimentary or barter rooms; Reward Stays (as defined herein); NET Group rates; Series Group or IT Group rates; contracted Entertainment or Encore rates; third party websites bookings (irrespective of rate paid); and "opaque" channel bookings where the brand may or may not be known at the time of purchase
