Hi all,

First, a disclaimer - I should have checked this well before now but didn't and that thus makes me a complete idiot.

Last year I achieved Gold status for the first time and opted in to the Hilton HHonors Gold Elite membership in late December. I managed to get to Platinum status this year and opted in to the Diamond tier in late July (mid last week).

It turns out that the Gold Elite status was never applied to my Hilton HHonors membership, and I'd ideally like to make use of the membership benefits for a trip in early September.

I've written to Virgin/Velocity this evening to get this looked at. Beyond that, is there anything other members would be doing in this sort of situation?

Thanks to all who reply. :-)

The gold status is irrelevant at this time; the diamond would override it.

When you activate the benefit, you should have the status for the remainder of the calendar year you activate it, the next year and three months into the year after that.

Make sure your Diamond status comes through; you should have it until at least end of March 2017.

Tip for those new to this - if you can, enact the benefit in January, not December.

If you need to chase up the membership do it through the Velocity call centre - they can't activate it from the Hilton end.

Based on over 6 months of not being given the status match I originally redeemed, I would agree that there is definitely difficulty being experienced by at least one of those parties performing the required activation.

I chased Hilton to no avail.
I called the Velocity call centre after close of business on a Friday.
They couldn't fix it immediately as it is dealt with by a team which works office hours.
It was fixed on Monday.
