It seems that the Hilton Macquarie card has had an enhancement that even out does a Qantas enhancement.

The 20% discount is gone but the one bright side is that you get 4 HHonors points per $$ spend at Hiltons.

Details: Hilton HHonors Macquarie Card.

If the 20% discount is gone then I cant stay at Hiltons any more as it will make them too expensive for my companies booking policy. And the card is also gone.

What's the annual fee? Also it's instant gold status and if spend is $40k a year you get diamond. Not too bad I suppose. Thinking maybe to get this card for non Amex spend??

Interested in the card for instant Gold status, and 40K annual spend for Diamond status. I see it is a Visa card....wonder if ATO payments are eligible spend :)

40000 points @ 1 point per dollar means 1 night at most hotels and even less at some.
No point in having gold if the room rate is not less 20% as it is usually way over my companies max room price.

What is the annual fee of this card? My hilton gold will expire next march, and I have found gold to be pretty good. Depending on the fee I may sign up when it's available for new customers.

It seems this may be the outcome of the questionaire many of us did last year (or was it the year before).

It's going to vary for everyone of course, but a $3333.34 average spend per month for perpetual diamond is tempting for us. After the diamond points enhancement (US$12000 for diamond), mattress runs became more normal (can I use that term to describe mattress running?) which are a PITA in their own right. I didn't have the old 20% disc card but am looking for a replacement for the VM 241 card and this one does have some benefits. It's a pity the redemption rates were also enhanced this year as the 4 HH points/$ @ Hiltons has therefore been devalued as well. I think it was markis10 who made comment about all ones status eggs in one basket.......I'm glad we're looking at the other possibilities too, as there is of course the risk now that the number of gold (especially) and diamond members in Oz may jump due to this card, prompting further "enhancements" from HH........ HH Gold may end up being practically worthless, but that's just negative speculation on my part.

I was thinking of getting this card for next year.

Forget that idea now....

The current card rewards scheme has no points transfer to airlines IIRC.

I have had this card for two years and never spent a single dollar on it. The whole point of the card for me was the 20% discount. I earn much better points on other cards. It is unlikely I will stay at hilton much with the changes and will probably be gold next year any way but will decide if I want to be Diamond as it is only useful if I am staying at Hilton hotels.

*edit post*
Answered my own question.

Pretty coughpy of them to change the conditions and the 20% didn't even cover the world.

[h=3]Are there any changes to existing Hilton benefits with my current card?[/h]Yes, the following benefits will no longer be available with the new Hilton HHonors Macquarie Platinum Card:

  • 20 percent accommodation, dining and room charge discount, whether you are staying or visiting a participating hotel in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and French Polynesia[SUP]16[/SUP]
  • $99 stay at any Hilton Hotel in Australia, subject to availability[SUP]16[/SUP]
  • Complimentary Guest Passes[SUP]16[/SUP].

Existing benefits will be honoured for bookings made prior to 1 November 2013

It seems very strange that these changes take effect on the 1 November on the link but on the Macquarie website when I go to cards the only benifits are stated are the current ones, also I have had no communication from Macquarie about the changes either by email or mail and there is now exactly one month til it takes effect.

Mine, including the new card, arrived today.
