Hi All

going to New York early in the new year.

Never been, so wondering on suggestions for Hilton Properties you have found good.

Times Square / Manhattan area or near subway is no problem either

Thanks for any advice / suggestions

Good is relative in NY.

I did the HGI Times Square last year. Newish, great location, small rooms.

Also did the Waldorf Astoria on points. Grand, old school, but frankly nothing special (it's closing for a major refurb shortly).

And finally did the Doubletree Jersey City. Great value, big room, and 5min walk to the Path which is 5min to WTC and 15min to mid-town

Going to keep an eye as I'll be in NY Jan-Feb as well. Currently have a booking at Hilton Fashion District but happy to see what the recommendations are.

stayed at the Hilton Midtown in August, was pretty well looked after.
Gold status, got us a handful of breakfast vouchers from the shop downstairs everyday. Lounge was well stocked and plenty of seats available.
great location for me personally, easy walk to Central park and Times Sqaure.
Would recommend.

I have stayed at:
- Hilton Manhattan East (Best hotel of the four but little out of the way (6-7 min walk to Grand Central, had very noisy neighbours that ruined stay but was comped HHonours points)
- HGI Times Square (790 Eighth Ave) (Great location, great breakfast, very small rooms)
- DoubleTree Times Square South (Good for Macy's, smaller rooms but was a cheaper stay)
- HGI Central Park South (Nice hotel, location was fine for my needs and was very cheap in January but have a major elevator issue with staff and guests sharing unless this has been changed)

My fave Hilton in NY is the Conrad.
Not near Times Square (a good thing IMHO) but is a short walk to Subway. Superb rooms.

I'm waiting for Conrad availability for next September to open up. I haven't stayed there yet. Last time in NYC, a couple of months ago, I stayed at the Millenium. We paid a reasonable rate for a junior suite with a wonderful view of Freedom Tower and the new transportation hub (really a glorified Westfield Shopping Centre). The room was a good size with a decent bathroom and the location is tremendous being right next to the transport hub of course. Breakfasts were decent. All up we'll stay there again but first want to try the Conrad.

I've stayed at:

Manhattan East - got a good upgrade to room with small balcony, not the best location as stated above. Short stay only.
Times Square - got well looked after re breakfast, fridge in room, nice sized room and location good (if that is where you want to be - it was my first time in NYC so yes).
Millenium - great views, close to several different subway stations including one that has an express to Times Square, nice and quiet area especially at weekends, but tiny rooms, and the breakfasts were awful.

As touched upon above, I was able to get HGI Central Park South for $89 USD last January and a cheap visit two years earlier at the Hilton Manhattan East. If the prices in Jan aren't low already, I would bet they will be at some point.

Millenium looks great but sold out on my dates in March...Thanks for everyones comments so far

The Whole Foods across the road and terrific Wine shop opposite Shake Shack are also other good reasons to love Conrad.

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Long Island City in Queens earlier this month. It's next to Queens Plaza Subway station on the E line from JFK and only a few stations from Manhattan.

Can highly recommend it and it is very close to the city.

After seeing Book of Morman I was back at this hotel in 10 minutes.

Another vote for the Conrad. I've stayed there three times now.

I've never had an upgrade, but the rooms are excellent anyway. I love the a la carte breakfast menu that Diamonds get - so much better than a buffet.

While not a Hilton property, the W Times Square was also pretty nifty but I'm a bit bias as it's the best upgrade I've ever had - to the incredible Extreme Wow Suite on the 56th floor (and as a lowly SPG Gold too) :mrgreen:

What should be the going rate for hotels in New York.

Pricing is around $300 and above and some out of the way locations under $250.00 makes it expensive if you want to stay their a week.

This is normal unless you go during less busy times such as January and February.

I have had glimpses of Central Park from my Hilton Midtown room before, but some amazing views from my Millenium Hilton room last year, although they are probably built out by now!
