We arrived at ~0100.First impressions were that as usual there was inadequate lighting. Also not very functional. As mrsdrron says it was designed by a man.

We were upgraded to the Executive floor. The view though was not appealing-

The EL was a pleasant place with great views.Brekkie was limited.Only 2 hot items which varied day to day.Diamonds can have breakfast at the main restaurant but again I didn't think the spread was that good-eg fried eggs are all precooked and on a hot plate. It is also very crowded.
One great thing about the Hilton-and I believe it is for all guests-is that they give you if asked a bus pass for your stay which is good for 4 people on all busses in the Reykjavik area.So it is easy to get around and as it is a small place easy to work out which bus to catch-ask for a map of the routes and timetable. It is available for free from the Information centre in town.

Don't suppose if you know if that was formerly the Radisson Blu Saga hotel? It was maybe 10 years ago but I think I remember that (non) view.

Thanks for the review. (the bathroom looks a bit pokey, mrsdrron:eek:)
Shame you didn't get a suite upgrade. Apparently a lot of their bookings are through third party agents/group bookings so I thought an upgrade would have been more forthcoming.

We are staying at the hotel in October and I have read to ask for a room with a view of the bay.
We'll have two rooms - one Diamond and one Gold so looks like we'll be having breakfast in the exec lounge.
How were the day-time snacks and evening canapes and drinks?

Enjoy your cruise!

The hotel was fairly full by the looks of things - several bus loads during our stay, and there was always a ship at the cruise terminal. As to the lounge we were out during the daytime so didn't see any snacks - but I think you can access the drink fridge anytime ( soft drinks/water/juice) In the evening wine and beer and selected spirits, a few plates of a strange assortment of food - hot and cold. Service was haphazard - sometimes things were replaced. Breakfast was better in the restaurant - but it was terribly busy while we were there. We had breakfast in the lounge 3 days and the restaurant 2.

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for reviews of Oz resorts? We just booked a tremendous deal -$1390 for 7 nights at Reef House, Palm Cove; includes return airfares from MEL - flying coughstar; a day's trip to the reef; airport transfers; free brekkie; free drinks each night in one of the lounges; $300 credit towards food costs and $200 toward spa costs - these last are per room not per person. Limited dates but we got 4-11 November. This was just one of those weekly 'best travel bargains' via email. Hoping it's not too good to be true as the last time we stayed at RH was about ten years ago and I'm worried it may have gone the way of Sanctuary Cove etc, a bit tired and dated. Although - at that price I figure I can put up with around 3* . Has anyone stayed recently or have any feedback? Many thanks
