It was my first stay for 15 years at this hotel and I have to say the hotel seems to have aged well but little money has been spent on the rooms. What the rooms lack for in terms of styling and upgrading is more than made up for by the service which was very good, the breakfast buffet was good as well.

I am not sure I would pay the $400 a night the hotel was asking for the night I was there, and I was a little bit surprised at the lack of mini bar offerings, its been a while since I stayed at a Hilton.

After a dozen or so stays in three years, this place has made way for the Hilton South Wharf as my preferred Melbourne City Stay.

They renovated many of the rooms over the last few years, but in some ways the changes are incongruous and don't really suit (eg the updated room furnishings don't seem to efficiently fit the rooms making moving around them often a real pain).

$400 rates are frequent here; especially when there's some action at the MCG (mind you the HSW often has rates to match).

My least favourite Hilton in Australia. Whilst the exec lounge is good, couldn't find anything else positive to say about it. It has seen better days. And they don't treat diamond members very well from my 2 stays there in the past 6 months.

One visit - tried to use one of their complimentary bikes (as indicated in the in-room guide) "oh sorry these are for Qantas staff only"

Rather stay at the Hilton South Wharf as well, or if need to be in that area, the Park Hyatt and walk.....

A terrific review on the hotel, perhaps its time that they would have to hear some likely suggestions for better improvement. :)

Cheers

Any recent reviews for this property? I'm booked in but considering changing my mind now..

Shrek and I stayed there in May. He booked the room (HHonors nothing).
On check in staff made big issue of telling us we had been upgraded to exec floor, room was small , dark and very underwhelming in comparison to the lobby. Letter in room regarding executive club. Wandered up there to have a look and was refused entry as apparently the upgrade didn't include access and staff should have made us aware of same. Shrek filled out a guest comment card and also wrote to the manager, we are still waiting for a reply! The Hilton South Wharf is IMHO much better than this. My fave CBD hotel is The Langham

I would say give the Hilton on the Park a miss. If it is convenient stay at Hilton South Wharf, beautiful Hotel, I stayed in a relaxtion suite with executive club access, room and views spectacular. The Executive club is very poor in my opinion though, Compared to the Sofitel Club Lounge it would rank 2/10.

I think I have only ever had one stay there during Ozfest IV in 2006.

The room was OK but I was on the second floor with a door out to the pool. I was sick (yes self inflicted) on the Saturday and could not get any sleep with the noise from the howling gale coming through to the room.

I would stay there again in the future as long as the rate was reasonable.

It is a just ok for an MCG event seeing it is so close.
Otherwise if it is to be Hilton then go to South Wharf.

We were upgraded to a Relaxation Suite at Hilton SW last night - again.

Only our 7th stay there this year - we have not been back to HOTP since out first HSW stay.

We are planning to stay at HOTP on the 17th for the Eagles Concert (convenience only) so I will report back.
This will be the first stay in a long time so I'm interested to see how we are treated.

The 48 tram does go by HOTP and very close to HSW.

Thought you would be too young for the EAgles Straightman?

Hilton on the Park is very dated these days. I would much prefer to put my money to South Wharf which is a nice new hotel but still far enough from the city to be quiet.

However as a previous poster said, the executive lounge could be a lot better.

I was at the Glen Stevens dinner there early on in the week and the food was good considering it was a ballroom.

Emerites use it as their Hotel I noted as well.

I kept my booking and stayed here the other week. The location was perfect for what I needed. Upgraded to an executive suite (regular room on high floor with access to exec. lounge?!). The free internet as HH Gold and pastries and coffee in the morning were appreciated.

I saw SQ and NZ staff there when I last stayed also.
