Hire car in Tasmania - an alternative

Rental car companies sold off abt half their fleet in Tasmania in 2020, so rentals are hard to get and expensive (in common with other places).

Anyone after a hire car might like to check out 'car hire share' - where people hire out their own car. Like Car Next Door. or Evee.

Now, the Tasmanian government is offering people $1000 to join one of those schemes. ABC story, which also canvasses the risks in going this route (as hirer)

No thanks as too many uncertainties as mentioned in article....if I come to Tas will book a car way in advance; if none available at a reasonable price, will holiday elsewhere (have been to just about every corner of Tas on multiple past trips so only will be revisiting places).
