Planning to use the one at HK Station soon for the first time, and was wondering:

1. What are the opening hours?
2. How far ahead/how close to the flight are you allowed to use it?
3. Are they laxer/stricter than the airport check-in regarding weight limits? Flying CX who always seem quite tolerant. Are they CX staff at these places?

I used it last month, I believe you can check it at anytime. We checked in 5 hours before the flight.

They did look at the weight (i was on QF) but not that bad.

I've used it and checked in about 9 hours before my flight (9am, flight was around 6pm)

They were specific on luggage limits and got me to unload stuff from my bags to make it lower and let it go by about 2kgs in the end (had to buy a bigger roller board to put the additional stuff in)

It is quick, hassle free and one of the best conveniences in any cities I've visited

Oh and various airlines have staff there, so not generic staff members

Were you on CX mella? I'm hoping to get away with an extra 2-3kg as I always have done on CX, as I have in SIN, HKG, and FCO

I have utilized HKG ITCI many of times with various airlines.. I only recall once on BI when the check in dragon was trying to lecture me about the weight issue. I was in J & was 'over" the limit a couple of kgs. I politely proceeded to mention that airline xx & airline xx whom I use often from this port ( true situations)is always very welcoming of myself & my baggage... She 'managed" to sort something out for me..' This time only" in an authoritarian tone of voice.. were her last words. ' Gotta love your work".. Was my response.
Apart from that.. The ITCI facility is fantastic.. Great to offload the luggage & enjoy the offerings of elements shopping & delicious establishments upstairs, before a quick 22min ride to airport.. HKG is always a breeze.. :D

Yep - much better setup than the overrated SIN, where the train is nowhere near as good. And no dated casino style carpet either! Although a go-kart track at HKG would be welcome!

1, 2. ISTR they are open quite long hours and you could check in up to a day before
This is an advantage as you can only check in at the airport about 3 hours (at least for QF anyway)(so in-town check in is great to get your boarding passes and maximise lounge time)
3. Not sure if they are less strict in-town - just give them a smile, hopefully you are not too far over the weight limit..

Yes, it is just like normal check in at an airport. For CX/OW there is an F checkin desk for WP and F pax.
