Currently in my room, looking out over the harbour, can't see anything due to the heavy rain from typhoon Chanthu.
Check in process:
Arrived at 0730, room not avail yet. Checked in, luggage kept, went for a walk and breakfast around the TST area. Returned at 0900 and room was ready. Had been offered a paid upgrade to a larger room with no view, available at 0730 - declined this.
The Towers room (harbour view) is no different from other normal harbour view rooms (non-towers), except for being on floors 15 and above, so perhaps a better view.
Also, there is a fruit basket that seems to have been replenished daily, a fax machine, Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries
Did not receive a welcome letter describing the amenities of the Towers
Did however receive a welcome back letter - 5th stay in two years
OK, the good:
In room comp wifi, worked easily, have to rejoin after 3 days (max option despite one week stay)
Brekky in the Oyster Bar on the top floor overlooking the harbour - good continental selection, with cooked to order items from a menu avail (western, japanese, chinese etc) as well
Evening coughtails - selection limited (benchmark is Grand Hyatt Erawan BKK - so many options that it has its own counter for dessert...), so a little disappointed here but made up for by the view over the harbour and service.
Excellent lounge staff - made bookings for Lung King Heen and Xi Yan (private dining) for me
