Hi there,
I am flying hawaiian -hnl- syd- then connecting to mel. Just wondering if 1 hour 30 min is enough time to clear immigration, customs and check into virgin for a flight to Melbourne. Expedia have just changed our virgin flight by 15 minutes....but I'm thinking that 15 minutes was our safety net for a slight delay through immigration. It's a Friday night..could be busy...what do you think...ta Ann

Ideally, a minimum of two hours should be allowed for an international to domestic connection. I think 90 minutes is cutting it fine. However, are the tickets booked on the one PNR? That is, do the two flights have the same booking reference and were they booked as one? If so, you're protected for a mis-connect and I don't see any reason why you wouldn't get looked after.

While I won't say it's impossible, also factoring in the terminal transfer, it's going to be challenging. If it's on the same PNR, you are protected, but otherwise, it's best to look at changing either one of the flights to allow for more transfer time.

We would have to agree that you are cutting it fine to make your domestic leg.
You should ask the travel agent to give your trip a little more leeway.

Virgin should put you on the next available if you miss it!
.... though they are not obliged to do so if the bookings are on different PNRs.

Having said that I have never had a problem with Qantas when arriving but have not needed to put Virgin to the test.

Thanks for the feedback-yes it is all on the one PNR- and originally when booked we had the extra 15 minutes however that flight time no longer exists and we were placed on the earlier flight. Expedia has that connection for most of their MEL-HNL flights so I'm thinking it should be ok....just no time for duty-free I guess! Have a month or so to think about changing .
