Hong Kong - Salisbury (YMCA) Hotel, Kowloon Waterfront.

G'day, in November stopping 3 nights in HK on way back from UK. Looking at the Salisbury owned by YMCA on Kowloon Waterfront, right next door to the famous and very expensive Penninsula Hotel. HK is expensive, but this one is reasonable by HK prices!.

Anyone out there stayed at the Salisbury? Your thoughts? TripAdvisor gives it VG reviews.:?:

Never stayed here personally but friends have and consistently good reports as well as (as you mention) very good value.

Walked past it couple of times and it looked decent enough. Definitely not Chungking Mansions style so it should be alright?

It's not a bad hotel. Lobby looks 5 star, lifts/room are maybe 3.5 star.
If you are happy to take the risk - booking last minute (on the day) is extremely cheap in HK. Many hotels around the $100 AUD price point.

Stayed there 4 times - it is our go to hotel. Close to everything, great prices, great food in house. Excellent with kids.

I have found emailing them can get cheaper rooms than online - but prepared for broken English in the email reply

And do remember it is fun to stay at the YMCA.
